I was going to write a book about Swift 6 but in my opinion, what we will think of as Swift 6 is not finished yet. The core team is now smoothing some of the sharp edges as people gain experience with concurrency.
My plan (though I don't think I've said this publicly before) is to write a book on App Intents. I've been looking to write a book on AI/ML for years and couldn't find where I fit in. I think the way in for most developers is App Intents.
I have updated Swift Kickstart and SwiftUI Kickstart. I will do a light pass on the Macros book and update the Data Flow book. I will end-of-life the Combine book and take a quick look at the Functional book and then end-or-life it as well. The Data flow and Async books will need significant updates. I should update Data flow before WWDC and Async after.
I will begin the year in Singapore at iOS SG and then do a remote talk at Functional Conf. March includes a trip to Oulu Finland for a Arctic Conference and then App Dev Con in Amsterdam.
After that I have nothing. I thought I might be invited back to Deep Dish in April, Swift Craft in May, and iOSKonf in Skopje but it doesn't look as if these are going to happen.
I still plan on updating my Top Tracks app. It feels slow to me and needs a new design and some attention to accessibility. I've been playing with a workout app and would like to write a time management app.
Membership in a local gym was included in my medicare supplement. I've really enjoyed working out again and have recently been trying Yoga classes as well. I need to restart Tai Chi.
I'm shaken by the results of the election in November and worried about what we'll face in January especially given the recommendations for cabinet positions. I considered moving elsewhere but I don't know where would be safe.
I want to move to a more vegetarian based diet and do cardio at least four days a week.
